Ralf Shunt Overshadows Monza Test

Ralf Schumacher was taken to hospital after suffering a major accident on the first day of testing at Monza.
The Williams driver somersaulted off the track at the second Lesmo bend in the final minutes of the day's running.
The car suffered a heavy impact with the barriers and was clearly badly damaged when it was returned to the pits under a tarpaulin.
Ralf was taken to the circuit’s medical centre before being transferred to hospital in Milan. Brother Michael accompanied him.
Williams test team manager Tim Newton said: "Ralf suffered an accident at the end of the afternoon session, when he spun off the circuit at one of the Lesmo corners. The cause of the accident is not yet known but is under investigation."
Ralf had earlier suffered a minor fire after oil leaked when he came into the pits.
McLaren's David Coulthard was quickest on the day, lapping some four-tenths of a second faster than Ralf in second.
Schuey Sr was third, the fastest of the three Ferraris on duty. The world champion concentrated on aerodynamics and tyre testing.
Schumacher's championship rival Juan Pablo Montoya had an uneventful day working through his test programme, and ended down in 12th place.
BAR had an encouraging day with Jenson Button fourth fastest and Jacques Villeneuve sixth. Like Ferrari, the main focus of their work was on tyres and aerodynamics.
Sauber tested a new engine specification while Justin Wilson was in action for Jaguar.
Toyota brought three cars to the circuit. Olivier Panis was the fastest of the trio on his 37th birthday.
He said: "It was a generally positive first day. We concentrated on general set-up work and tyre evaluation, but we need to continue in this way, as we have a lot to do tomorrow and Thursday."
Like Panis, Cristiano da Matta concentrated on specific work for the Italian GP while test driver Ricardo Zonta worked towards more long-term development.
