Villeneuve eyes BAR return

Jacques Villeneuve has a strong interest to return to his former team BAR next year to replace Jenson Button. The 1997 world champion is convinced that he is the perfect man for BAR.

“Why am I the guy for BAR? Because they need someone that can adapt to the team very quickly," Jacques Villeneuve told Autosport Magazine. “I'm experienced, I know what it takes to win and I've won before. I've been with the team through the hardest time and we all survived it together until this year, until everything changed. So it's unfinished business and that means I'm very hungry. There’s a trust and respect within the team, with the mechanics, the engineers. It’s the same thing with Honda, the way they responded shows that it’s still present."

And how about the problems with David Richards?
"We've cleared that. Anything personal is always difficult to clear because you are in the middle of its and it's hard to have a perspective. I've led my life always shutting the book on the past and going forwards. So there's no reason to do it differently now."

"I’ve no idea how my chances are, if there are no political games being played they’re very good. If there’s politics involved it would mean that people would have to take a step back from a decision they made last year and some people don’t like doing that. There’s pride involved."
