Porsche has confirmed to RacingNews365 that the team has lodged an appeal to the FIA, after Antonio Felix da Costa was stripped of victory in Misano after being disqualified.
The Portuguese driver was initally victorious in the opening race of last weekend's Misano E-Prix double-header, and led to a phenomenal celebration.
To celebrate his first win since Cape Town last year, Da Costa jumped into the swimming pool at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. However, at 20:20 local time, the Porsche driver was disqualified.
Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds felt "physically sick" after hearing the news, with Oliver Rowland having inherited victory. The Season 6 champion was disqualified as his car was in breach of the technical regulations.
Specifically, the FIA stated: "The Throttle Damper Spring mounted in car 13 during the race was not found in conformity with one of the 3 optional items declared in the Gen3 Spark Catalogue document."
Immedietly after the announcement, it was confirmed that the German manufacturer had activated their intention to appeal. This gave them 96 hours (until Wednesday evening) to lodge an official appeal, which it has been confirmed to RacingNews365 has now been made.
A Porsche spokesperson told RacingNews365: "We can confirm that Porsche lodged an appeal against the decision No. 31 by the Stewards relating to the 2024 FIA Formula E Misano E-Prix, 13 April 2024.
"Please understand that no further comments or statements are published at this stage."
