Max Verstappen is eyeing improvements to his Red Bull before qualifying despite winning the Miami Grand Prix sprint.

In dominant fashion in Miami, Verstappen eased to a second sprint win of the season, comfortably defeating Charles Leclerc's Ferrari - who nearly got alongside into Turn 1.

This was the only cause for concern for Verstappen - who reported that he was suffering with a lack of rear-grip during the 19-lap race, but still held on for the win, one he described as not "perfect."

"My engagement wasn't good at the start, so then of course I had to squeeze him a bit," Verstappen said of the launch with Leclerc.

"Luckily everything worked out in Turn 1 and of course we had the safety car to calm things down a bit, but after that, we could suddenly increase the gap a little bit, but it wasn't perfect.

"We still have a bit of work to do, and now at least with the new format, we can still fine tune the car a little bit, so hopefully we can improve it for qualifying, and for the race.

"But it is good, and I am happy with it, it gives us a few good points to look at and improve.

"In China, I felt really good, the car was really nice to drive there, and here it was a bit more difficult for me, so there are a few things to improve."

Verstappen has not felt at ease in his RB20 throughout the weekend, describing his sprint pole lap as 'terrible' and conceded that he has not felt as at ease with the car as in China.
