Jos Verstappen has issued an update on the considerations behind son Max's future in F1.

Three-time champion Max is contracted to Red Bull until the end of 2028, three years into the next power unit and chassis regulations cycle.

As the dominant combination in F1, the Dutchman is expected to win his fourth successive drivers' title this year, and even at this stage, is already the favourite for the 2025 crown, too.

Amid rumours of an internal power struggle at Red Bull, however, speculation over his future persists.

Verstappen's father, Jos, has responded to that, whilst underlying the success Max is currently enjoying in F1 with Red Bull.

"It's going insanely well," he told RaceXpress at the Rally of Wallonia, where he was competing at the weekend.

"It's unbelievable how strong he (Max Verstappen) is. Also during the race, you just notice that he has everything under control and keeps an eye on everything. During qualifying he's there, it's just beautiful to see him so busy,"

'I don't know anything about it'

Jos, who himself had a career in F1, spanning from 1994 to 2003, is unsurprised by the interest in his son, despite the length of his existing contract.

As a highly sought-after driver, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has embarked on a prolonged campaign to win Verstappen's signature, potentially even earlier than when his current deal at Red Bull is set to expire.

Verstappen Sr insists that whilst Red Bull currently offers the best opportunity in F1 for Max, they need to look at 2026 and beyond.

"I think everyone wants him, only I think Max is right for the moment," he added. "He has a fast car, but we also have to look further to 2026, so we are letting everything come to us at the moment. We stay very calm and see what will happen."

With the current speculation that renowned designer and current Red Bull chief technical officer Adrian Newey is set to leave the team, there is a focus on how any such move may affect the Verstappen camp.

Jos, however, did not want to be drawn in on the subject. He said: "I'm not going to say anything about that....whatever should I say about it?

"I don't know anything about it. There is a deal between him and Red Bull and the rest we'll see. I can't say anything about that. We all know how he has performed and how good he is."
